Day 27: Batson, TX to Deweyville, TX

IMG_4871

Today, we rode 68.3 miles–about 7 miles further than anticipated, thanks to Google Maps directing us onto a road that does not exist. We successfully (and easily) re-routed, but it was a bit further than we had planned on riding for the day. If you’re a geography fiend, you’ll know (actually probably not) that Deweyville, TX is just a few miles from Louisiana, so we are very, very, very close to getting out of Texas (we are in fact staying in a rv park in Louisiana for the night). Finally! The roads continue to get flatter and lower, as our maximum elevation for today was 23 feet above sea level. We’ve also gone from seeing dead coyotes and deer to seeing dead snakes, turtles, and armadillos. Dad has also observed that the snakes are getting larger as we get further east!
