On the sixth day of riding, we left Brenda, Arizona with a great tailwind and finally some smooth roads. Unfortunately, those smooth roads didn’t last long, and soon we were back to rough chip and seal-type pavement and permanent vibration massage therapy. About fifty miles in, the tandem had its’ first flat, so we stopped at a gas station for Dad to fix it and for Mom and Dad to get their daily Coca-Cola. A few miles past that, Josh met us on his mountain bike and rode the “last” three miles to the trailer with us. Then, Mom decided it would be a good idea to go “just three more miles…to the top of the hill.” 5.4 miles later, we were not at the top of any hill, but she finally decided she was done for the day, so we pulled over and set up camp there on the side of the road.
